Updates on the 45 Bell Media radio stations being sold to different owners


As we've previously announced back in February of last year, BCE announced that about 4,800 jobs were cut at all levels of the company, and that includes 45 Bell Media radio stations being sold to 7 different buyers, as well as the cancellation of most CTV newscasts, primarily the midday & holiday newcasts (except for Toronto) and the weekend newscasts (except for Montreal, Ottawa, and Toronto).


All 45 stations were sold to new owners, as the CRTC approved those sales between December 2024 and March 2025, so here's a breakdown of the sales and if available, new brandings, by region:


British Columbia

21 stations were sold to Vista Radio, the CRTC approved the sale on February 13, 2025, and as of April 14, 2025, GO FM is heard on 101.5 FM Kelowna, 97.1 FM Penticton, and 98.5 FM Fort St. John (all of those were former Move Radio stations), Summit Radio is heard of 800 AM Penticton, 1240 AM Osoyoos, 590 AM Terrace, 98.5 FM Summerland, 106.9 FM Nelson, 95.7 FM Trail, 106.1 FM Revelstoke, 106.3 FM Golden, 91.5 FM Salmon Arm, 97.7 FM Kitimat and 102.3 FM Fort Nelson (all of those were former Bounce Radio stations except for 101.5 FM Fort Nelson and 99.1 FM Prince Rupert, the new brands are The GOAT and Coast FM respectively), The Ranch is now heard on 890 AM Dawson Creek and 105.7 FM Vernon (both of these were former Pure Country Radio stations, except for 103.1 FM Terrace, the station is now branded as The River instead), Sun FM has returned to 99.9 FM Kelowna after a 6-year hiatus, formerly branded as Virgin Radio, and CKFR-AM Kelowna has kept their AM 1150 branding and still carries the same news/talk format during their Bell Media days.


Ontario

CJOS-FM/Owen Sound was sold to ZoomerMedia, the CRTC approved the sale on December 12, 2024, making it the first radio station in the 45-station sale to be approved by the CRTC, and as of March 31, 2025, CJOS-FM has offcially adopted the Zoomer Radio branding: https://www.zoomerradio.ca/news/2025/04/02/zoomer-radio-cjos-fm-92-3-has-launched-in-owen-sound/

CKTB, CHTZ-FM, CHRE-FM (all in St. Catharines) and CKLH-FM/Hamilton were sold to the Whiteoaks Communications Group, the CRTC approved the sale on December 19, 2024, and as of June 16, 2025, CKTB, CKLH, and CHRE got new logos, the latter two now known as Legend & Dream, respectively, while CHTZ still has the same logo during their Bell Media ownership days, making it the last of the 45 sold Bell Media radio stations to have new logos/brands.

CKPT-FM and CKQM-FM (both in Peterborough) and CKLY-FM/Lindsay were sold to Durham Radio, the CRTC approved the sale on January 30, 2025, and as of May 5, 2025, Bounce Radio in Lindsay has changed to Y91.9, Pure Country in Peterborough has changed to KX105 and to go with the branding chnage, the station has changed their call letters to CKXP-FM, therefore retiring the CKQM call letters after almost 48 years, while Move 99.7 switched to adult hits as Pete 99.7, as of May 12, 2025, after stunting for a week during the transition.

CJPT-FM and CFJR-FM (both in Brockville) as well as CFLY-FM and CKLC-FM (both in Kingston) were sold to My Broadcasting Corporation, the CRTC approved the sale on February 26, 2025 and as of March 24, 2025, CFJR and CJPT (both in Brockville) switched to the MyFM and Giant FM brands, respectively, CKLC-FM/Kingston switched to New Country 98.9, but sister station CFLY-FM reverted back to the Fly FM branding after 4 1/2 years as Move, making it the 1st former Bell Media radio stations in the sale to change brands.


Quebec

7 stations were sold to Arsenal Media, the CRTC approved the sale on March 11, 2025, making it the last group of 45 stations being sold to receive CRTC approval, and as of April 25, 2025, CFZZ-FM/St-Jean-sur-Richelieu, CFEI-FM/St-Hyacinthe, CJDM-FM/Drummondville, and CIKI-FM/Rimouski adopted the "O" brand, while CFVM-FM/Amqui, CJOI-FM/Rimouski, and CHRD-FM/Drummondville adopted the "Viva" brand.


Maritimes

5 stations were sold to the Maritime Broadcasting System, the CRTC approved the sale on December 20, 2024, and as of April 8, 2025, CKTY-FM/Truro, NS has reverted back to the Cat Country 99.5 branding after a 6 year hiatus, CJCJ-FM/Woodstock, NB has flipped to classic hits as 104.1 The Wave, while the Bonuce-branded stations in Grand Falls, NB, Bathurst, NB, and Truro, NS were also rebranded as The Wave.

Now that the transition period is complete, Bell Media Radio is now down to:

11 Virgin Radio stations

9 Pure Country stations

8 Énergie stations (all in the province of Quebec)

6 Rouge FM stations (all in the province of Quebec)

5 Bounce Radio stations

5 News/Talk stations

4 Move Radio stations

4 Musical stations without a national brand

3 TSN Radio stations (all in Eastern Canada)

For a grand total of 55 radio stations across Canada.
