Over in Japan, 21.9 million viewers watched Shohei Ohtani and the Los Angeles Dodgers claim the championship for the 2nd year in a row on NHK, making it the 1st time since the New York Yankees won 3 straight between 1998 and 2000 that the World Series had a repeat champion.
Next year's MLB season won't get underway until March 25th, when the New York Yankees travel to the west coast to take on the San Francisco Giants.
Story #2: Heather Hiscox retires from CBC after 20 years of hosting the morning news
Exactly 20 years after hosting the morning news for the first time, Heather Hiscox has officially retired from the CBC last Thursday.
Her last broadcast was taped at the Barbara Frum Atrium in the Canadian Broadcasting Centre in downtown Toronto, but her fellow colleagues and her family was in attendance.
Her last show at CBC marked the cross country road trip of her farewell tour, which spanned multiple communities across Canada.
David Common will replace Hiscox as of February 2026, 2 weeks after Common hosts Metro Morning for the last time on Friday, January 16th.
In the interim, Guest hosts will lead the show until Common takes over the show on February 2nd, 2026.
Story #3: Tony Stark returns to 95.9 Virgin Radio during Charli Page's mat leave
During her final show before maternity leave last Friday, Tony Stark will take over afternoons on 95.9 Virgin Radio (CJFM-FM/Montreal) on November 17th.
Stark is no stranger to Montreal radio, as he was the announcer for The Beat 92.5 (CKBE-FM), before leaving for Halifax and returning to Montreal for a year before moving to Ottawa.
Stark previously hosted afternoons on Jump! 106.9 (CKQB-FM/Ottawa) as well as voicetracking for several other Corus radio stations until the company's mass layoffs in early 2025.
His co-host, Dayna Breez was also laid off during another announcement of mass layoffs at Corus in June 2025, resulting in CKQB's elimination of live studio programming.
Guest hosts will lead the afternoon slot during the week of November 10th.
